In the autumn of 2023, the production company FLX filmed the crime drama "An honest life" here
in Lund, a thriller based on author Joakim Zander's novel of the same name. The film was
published on the streaming service Netflix July 31st, 2025, and is about Simon, a young man
who comes to Lund to study law but is drawn into a criminal and anarchist group.
The film takes place in many beautiful locations here in Lund and this visitor's guide shows most of the places for those who want to see them after watching the film. The visitor's guide mentions the different locations and the different characters but does not tell anything about the story, not to spoil the experience for those who want to read Joakim Zander's novel or watch the film on Netflix first. To watch the film, you need a subscription to Netflix.

Some scenes that are filmed outside the center of Lund
Simon's parents' home in Söderköping is located at Mårtens Fälad in eastern Lund. Simon is searching for Henrik Jonsson at Sparta in Lund , and he has an exam in law in one of the large halls at the sport center Victoriastadion .

Scenes filmed in other locations
The furniture store Paustian in Copenhagen is used as a luxury watch shop, and a scene is filmed outside the Central Station in Copenhagen. Klåverödsgården between Kågeröd and Ljungbyhed in northwestern Skåne is illustrating Charles' house in the quarter professor's town in Lund. Some other scenes are filmed on the coast in Skåne and in Stockholm.

1) Track 4 at Lund C from the Mittel bridge
In the first scene, you will see when Simon arrives in Lund and walks towards the Mittel bridge on the platform at track 4. The first part of the main railway network, the railway between Malmö and Lund, was opened for traffic already December 2nd, 1856.
2) The tunnel Ryde´s underpass at Lund C
Simon is seen coming down the stairs to the tunnel Ryde's underpass from the platform at track 4 when he has just arrived in Lund. In a later scene, graffiti with large red text can be seen along the wall in Ryde's underpass. Initially, when the railway between Malmö and Lund was opened for traffic in 1856, there was only a temporary station building, but in 1858 the old station building, which is still there today, were put into use.
3) The street Stålbrogatan
After Simon goes the wrong way and gets into trouble at a demonstration, he is seen running along the street Stålbrogatan to get away from the demonstration.
4) InkManiaTattoo studio, the jewel shop in the movie
The jewel shop in the film is illustrated by the shop at the corner of the street Kattesund and the street Grönegatan where InkManiaTattoo studio now is located. The car is parked on the street Stålbrogatan near the corner to the street Grönegatan. On the wall to the right of the shop window facing the street Grönegatan, a message is sprayed.
5) The City Hall at the Main Square, the lecture room in the film
The large concert hall in the City Hall at the Main Square is used as the lecture room where Simon has his lectures in law.
6) The Sphinx in the Botanical Garden
The Sphinx in the Botanical Garden appears several times in the film. In one scene Simon is seen passing it, walking south on the walkway. The Botanical Garden was established on the site where it is now in the 1860s and is open daily with free admission.

7) The street Allhegona kyrkogata and the street Biskopsgatan
Simon is seen talking on his mobile phone, having Thomander's dormitory in the background. Thomander's dormitory is a student residence for twelve male students founded in 1895 through a donation in memory of the day, October 4th, 1812, when Bishop Johan Henrik Thomander was enrolled as a student at Lund University.
8) Helgonabacken outside the University Library
Simon is seen walking on the walkway at Helgonabacken as he is on his way to the university library. Many of the university's approximately 45,000 students pass this route on their way to or from their institutions at the university.
9) The University library main building
Simon is seen studying inside the beautiful Tegnér hall in the University Library, which is a reading room where it is supposed to be quiet. Max also comes there, reading a book. In another scene, Simon is seen scrolling through a newspaper in the newspaper reading room in the basement. The University Library opened in 1907 as the University Library's new main building after the space in the King's House in Lundagård was no longer sufficient. Nowadays, Lund University Library consists of 26 different libraries.

10) Outside the old surgery building
Simon is sitting on a bench outside the old surgery building when his classmate Fredde gets there. The old surgery building was built in the 1860s as part of the former hospital area but is now home to the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University.
11) The street Sandgatan where the demonstration took place
Shortly after arriving in Lund, Simon is seen walking on the street Paradisgatan. At that time, there were riots on the street Sandgatan in connection with a demonstration.
12) The University Plaza
On a few occasions, Simon is seen walking across the University Plaza, passing the University Main Building, on his way to the Department of Law. During medieval times, The University Plaza was the archbishop's orchard, but in the 1700s it became a botanical garden. The University Plaza, as it is today, was created in connection with the opening of the University Main Building in 1882.

13) The Academic Society´s building the AF-castle
Simon works as a waiter at a large student party held in the Big Hall on the second floor of the Academic Society's building AF-castle. The AF-Castle was inaugurated on May 14th, 1851, as the Academic Society's new residence.
14) The street Adelgatan
Simon is seen walking on the street Adelgatan in direction of Östgöta nation where he works in the kitchen.
15) The kitchen entrance to Östgöta nation
Simon is outside the kitchen entrance to Östgöta nation where he works in the kitchen.
16) Café Ariman at the street Kungsgatan
Simon is seen passing Café Ariman on the street Kungsgatan where he greets some of his classmates who are sitting by the window at Ariman. Café Ariman, which is almost always open and often hosts various cultural events, has long been a bit of an institution in Lund.
17) The Cathedral Square with the statue of Henrik Schartau
Simon is seen at the Cathedral Square, with the statue of Henrik Schartau in the foreground, as he is passing Café Ariman. Henric Schartau was a revivalist preacher in the early 1800s and gave rise to a revivalist movement that is usually called Schartauanism, which spread mainly in Scania and on the west coast.

18) The department of Law, Juridicum
Simon is seen entering the Department of Law, Juridicum, to attend a lecture in law. The Law Department is Lund's most central institution, and residence to the Faculty of Law at Lund University.
19) Outside the department of Law, Juridicum
Max is seen standing in the doorway to the old brick house on the street Lilla Gråbrödersgatan 3A waiting for Simon. The house was once the Berlingska printing house. The Berling family established an academic printing company in Lund in 1745. The house was built in the 1840s. The building is now used by the Department of Law at Lund University
20) The house at Clemens Square where Simon rent a room
Simon rents a room in an apartment on one of the upper floors in the house on the corner of the street Sankt Petri kyrkogata and Clemens Square. The large house in Art Nouveau style was built in the early 1900s. In one scene, he is looking down at the house on the opposite side at the street Sankt Petri kyrkogata, and in another scene, he is looking down at the small square on the corner of Clemens square and the street Bytaregatan.
